CBSE reportedly proposes two options to conduct Class 12th board exam

Today the Ministry of Education conducted a high-level meeting with all the Education Ministers of the states in India to discuss conducting Class 12th Board examination.

In this meeting, apart from the Education Minister of India and the states, Union Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, Prakash Javadekar, Smt. Smriti Irani were present.

The meeting starts with the discussion of whether to conduct this year’s Class 12th board examination or not.

While most states favors conducting the examination, states such as Delhi and Kerela which has the highest literacy rate are opposed to doing so.

The Education Minister of Delhi, Mr. Manish Sisodia said, conducting Class 12th board examination before vaccinating the student would be a big mistake. He said, there are over 1.5 crore Class 12th students in India whose age ranges above seventeen and a half. Mr. Sisodia said, Centre should first ask the experts to see if students can be given Covishield or Covaxin before attending the examination.

Kerala Government is also in favor of vaccinating students before conducting the examination.

Tamil Nadu Government said the exam should be conducted post pandemic.

After getting the opinion of all the States, the Centre has asked the states to provide their detailed suggestions till May 25 regarding Class 12th board examination.

With his official Twitter handle, Dr. Nishank tweeted, “I’m confident we will be able to arrive at an informed, collaborative decision regarding the Class 12th board exams and remove the uncertainty among students and parents by informing them of our final decision at the earliest”.

CBSE so far two times have postponed the date of this year’s Class 12th board exam. First in February and then in April.

CBSE proposes two options to conduct the Class 12th board exam

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is in favor of conducting the Class 12th board examination as the board has reportedly proposed two options to do the same.

Option 1

CBSE said, we could conduct the examination for the major subjects offline.

The marking of remaining subjects could be done based on performance in the papers for which the offline exams will be conducted.

We will increase the number of centers to ensure social distancing.

Option 2

CBSE said, the other option is, we could change the pattern of the examination.

The exam will be of Objective Type and will be conducted in the home schools of the students.

The duration of exam will be reduced to 90 minutes rather than 3 hours.

We could also give students the option to appear for any three subjects out of four.

While the Union Education Ministry, CBSE, and the majority of states are in favor of conducting the examination, students and parents are not in favor of the same. Seems like that’s why #cancelboardexams is still trending on Twitter.

No Confirmed Decision Yet

On May 25 while the Union Education Ministry has asked the states to submit their detailed suggestions regarding the exam, a confirmed decision might be announced on June 1 as said earlier.
