This Thurday, the Department of Space has partnered with CE Info Systems to develop Holistic Geospatial Solutions for India. ISRO which is controlled by the Department of Space and MapmyIndia which is owned by CE Info Systems now are going to develop the swadeshi alternative of Google Maps.
India is already in focus to fulfill the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and has justified the same by bringing an alternative of Twitter called the Koo App.
Now, taking about the Indian Mapping Portal like Google Maps, MapmyIndia is capable to do it easily. This more than 25 year old company is pioneered in making digital maps. The company CEO, Rohan Verma, recently has posted an update about the partnership with ISRO and said, although Foreign Mapping Portal allows users to use their service for free but in turn they capture some of very essential data from the user. These companies then use that same data to sell advertisements to the user. About MapmyIndia, the company CEO said, as we haven’t any business model for Advertisement, we take good care of our user.
In his LinkedIn blog post, MapmyIndia CEO said, so far MapmyIndia has covered more than 75 lakh Indian villages and 7500 Indian cities (both on street as well as building level).
Patnering with ISRO, MapmyIndia will now get full collection of ISRO’s satellitary data, for example the satellite view of the earth and so on. Now, it will be interesting to see, When both these organisation and company gonna create an Indian alternative of Google Maps.
