Supreme Court of India has got Four New Judges Today

Today Supreme Court of India has got four new Judges. So far, there were 30 Judges in the Supreme Court whereas the total judge’s seat in the Supreme Court is 34. Now, today with the swearing-in of 4 new judges, the position has been filled up to its sanctioned strength, i.e., 34.

Below is the list of four new Judges who take oath today to become new judges in the Supreme Court.

  1. Krishna Murari
  2. S. Ravindra Bhat
  3. V. Ramasubramanian
  4. Hrishikesh Roy

Justice Krishna Murari

Justice Krishna Murari was previously the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court and before that he was the Judge of Allahabad High Court. Those of you who don’t know, let me tell you that, In Supreme Court of India, Judges are nominated by Chief Justice of India whereas appointed by President of India.

So, here you can see that all of these four Judges are nominated by the current Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and appointed by the current President of India Ramnath Kovind.

Justice S. Ravindra Bhat

Now, Coming to Justice S. Ravindra Bhat, he was previously the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court and before that he was the Judge of Delhi High Court.

Justice V. Ramasubramanian

Justice V. Ramasubramanian was the former Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court and before that the Judge of Madras High Court and Telangana High Court Respectively.

Justice Hrishikesh Roy

Last, but not the least Justice Hrishikesh Roy was the former Chief Justice of Kerela High Court. However, before that, he was the Judge of Gauhati High Court.

In the Supreme Court, a judge can work till the age of 65, while his monthly salary is Rs 2 lakh 50 thousand. A Supreme Court judge does not have the right to practice law in any institution after retirement. However, he/she can be appointed to various posts in tribunals and commissions after retirement.
