The Purvanchal Expressway will pass through Lucknow, Barabanki, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Amethi, Sultanpur, Azamgarh, Mau, and Ghajipur.
Presently, the expressway will be six lanes. Finally, it will become 8 lanes. Because of this expressway, it takes only 4 hours to visit from Lucknow to Ghazipur. Especially, Purvanchal Express will connect the Link Road from Ayodhya, Allahabad, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur. Link Road will be made by the UP Public Works Department or NHAI. The construction work is likely to start after the budget session. The target to complete this whole project is just about two and a half years.
Expressway Manufacturing Cost per kilometer: Rs. 70 crores
The Length of this expressway is 353 km. Whereas, the total cost of construction of this Expressway will be Rs. 24,627 crores. It means Rs. 70 crores per kilometer. On the other hand, the Lucknow-Agra Expressway has a total length of 302 km. For the Akhilesh government to construct the Lucknow Agra Expressway, the expenditure was Rs 50 crore. In this way, the Lucknow Ghazipur Expressway is expensive.
What is the reason behind more cost?
Since the UP land is fertile so the government has to pay farmers more value for land acquisition. UP government officials said that about Rs.2900 crores were spent for land acquisition in Lucknow-Agra Expressway. Whereas a total of Rs. 7058 crores would be spent in land acquisition for Purvanchal Expressway.
