In a bid to improve the health institutions in the country, while presenting India’s 2021 budget, the Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a new centrally sponsored scheme called Atma Nirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana.

Funds Alloted

With an outlay of Rs. 64,180 crore, this scheme is going to improve the primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare systems of our country and will set up new institutions to easily curb any new and emerging disease.

AIM

The main aim of Atma Nirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana is to improve and set up the below mentioned institutes in India.

  • 17,788 Rural Health Centres
  • 11,024 Urban Health Centres
  • Public Health Labs
  • 5 Regional National Centre for Disease Control Branches (NCDC)
  • 20 Metropolitan Health Surveillance Units of NCDC
  • 9 Biosafety Level 3 Labs
  • 4 National Institutes of Virology

All the AIMS of Atma Nirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana are planned to be completed in the coming 6 years.
