Indian Institute of Skills to open in Gujarat, Mumbai, and Kanpur

In a bid to produce highly skilled manpower to fill jobs in the upcoming highly demanded sectors like Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Augmented Reality, Additive Manufacturing, Cloud Based Application, and more, the Ministry of Labour and Employment Department in collaboration with the Tata Group is setting up the “Indian Institute of Skills” in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

About 20 km from Ahmedabad, in a village – Nasmed, the Indian Government has allotted 20 acres of land to the Tata Group to construct this Institute. The Institute is being developed in a Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership where the Gujarat Government has provided the land and the Tata Education Development Trust is contributing for the Capital Investment as reported by TOI.

Once made, the Indian Institute of Skills will fall on the same standard of IIMs and IITs in the country and will be the best training institutes in the country to train individuals in the emerging fields.

One of the officials from the Labour & Employment department told TOI, It is planned that the Institute will train 5000 students every year and will target to place 70% of the students.

While the Indian Institute of Skills seems to be opened first in Gujarat, it is also planned to be open in Mumbai and Kanpur.
