Government of India has Removed Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir

Today is the historical day in India not just for people living in Jammu and Kashmir but for all the Indias. Today, Home Minister Amit Shah proposes the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir in Rajya Sabha. He also explains with a signature of President of India, all the laws pertaining to article 370 goes in dumpyard immediately. Well, What does it mean? What does it mean by cancellation of Article 370 from constitution of India.

Let me tell you that Article 370 gives Jammu and Kashmir a special status as a state since 1947, that gives Jammu and Kashmir the power to control the constitution in their state on their own. Now, with the removal of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir becomes union territory of India just like Delhi, Chandigarh, Andaman Nicobar etc. Union Territories are those states where laws of Government of India are applicable. That means from today on Government of India could form laws for Jammu and Kashmir.

One more thing to note here is, with the removal of Article 370 Government of India has bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir in two union territories called Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. That means soon we will see two lieutenant governors in J&K, one for J&K and other for Ladakh. Well, the only difference between three two union territories is J&K will have a legislature whereas Ladakh will not have a legislature.

Article 370 is at the top of the list in BJP manifesto since 2014 when Narendra Modi first became the prime minister of India. BJP government take some time to revoke article 370 but they have now done it as they promises back in 2014.
