price of subsidized gas cylinders has increased by Rs 2.71

Starting next month, the oil companies are making a major change in the format of delivering Gas Cylinder at Consumer’s Doorstep. In the new format, consumers have to show the OTP in order to get their gas cylinder delivered at the doorstep. As per a Hindustan Times report, Oil companies have given this new format the name Delivery Authentication Code which is basically an OTP that will be sent to the consumer’s registered mobile number as soon as they book a gas cylinder also for refill.

This new format is going to be implemented first in the 100 smart cities in India and a pilot project for the same is already running in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

So, I think now you get it, from next month, In around 100 smart cities in India, Oil companies are delivering the Gas Cylinder at the doorstep once the consumer book the cylinder either online or via IVRS and will show the OTP they received on their registered mobile number.

Commercial Cylinders have not been included yet under this system and for now, only the domestic cylinder falls under this new system. Also, although this new system has initially been implemented in 100 smart cities, it shall later be expanded to other cities.

Now although, consumers whose details like the address, mobile number filled wrong may face some difficulties, Oil companies are implementing this new system to prevent theft of LPG cylinders.
