Moving towards the vision of National Education Policy, the CBSE Class 12th board exam will contain more application based questions from 2021. From application based questions I mean questions from case studies where some paragraphs will be provided to the student and different formatted questions will be asked from those paragraphs.

These questions test and will prepare the reading, understanding, interpretation and writing skills of the students for any real time scenario.

Right now, CBSE do ask application based questions (aka Reading comprehension) but they are limited to one mark, however, now the board has decided to transform those questions into the short or long questions. That means a high marks question.

The sample paper of these newly introduced formatted questions has already been released on the board’s website.

CBSE director of Academics, Dr. Joseph Emmanuel said, we are making the board exams more competency based shifting rot-learning to learning for life.

Also do note that, this is a small step towards completing the goal of National Education Policy.
