In a bid to help passengers easily book bus tickets online, IRCTC has launched its bus ticket booking service.
Right now the service is accessible only via website but it is said, in the first week of March this year it will be accessible via IRCTC mobile app too.
To bring this service into existence, IRCTC has connected more than fifty thousand bus operators with this service.
These bus operators include government and private operators.
This IRCTC bus ticket booking service can currently book buses for 22 states and 3 union territories in India.
IRCTC was founded 21 years ago and currently this Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) is providing services like Ticketing, Catering, and Tourism. Now, although so far IRCTC booked tickets for Trains and Flights only but now book tickets for Buses too.

How to Book Bus Tickets from IRCTC?
To book bus tickets online, IRCTC has launched a Website.
The website has an option to search for buses in between two places. Once entered the Starting Point, Destination, and Departure Date, Search for Bus.
Select a bus, select the seats, and proceed to book.
Fill out your IRCTC credentials or could book the seat via Guest user login that requires the passenger email and mobile number.
How IRCTC online bus ticket booking service is beneficial?
Keep us away from the long queues of the offline ticket counters.
We can choose the preferred bus type. For example, Volvo Bus, AC or Non-AC.
We can choose our preferred seats. For example, may be a sleeping window seat.
We could cancel a booked ticket but we can’t modify the date of the ticket after booking. To modify the date of ticket after booking, we first have to cancel the ticket and then could book a new one.
We could book the ticket via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, Wallets, and UPI.
Do note that the service allows ticket booking for a maximum of 6 passengers in one transaction.
