Union Minister for Food and Consumer Affairs Ram Vilas Paswan today inaugurated the pilot project of One Nation One Ration Card online and said that from June 1, one Nation One Ration Card will be implemented in the entire country.
What is the meaning of one nation one ration card being implemented in the whole country?
Ram Vilas Paswan ji stated that after the implementation of one nation one ration card, a ration cardholder will be able to buy his ration from any PDS shop in any state of the country. Let us tell you that there are about 4.25 lakh public distribution system shops all over the country.
The Minister said that POS machines will be installed in all these PDS shops, while the one nation one ration card scheme will include only those shops which have installed POS machines in their shops.
The benefit of this scheme will be most beneficial to those who go to work in another state. Such people will no longer need to produce ration cards at the local level.
The Minister also informed that the One Nation One Ration Card Scheme has already been implemented in 16 states. Apart from this, 4 states such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat and Maharashtra have formally started the scheme from today. One nation one ration card scheme in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh will be affected from June 1.
