So Far, 2 Million People enrolled in Jan Dhan Yojana Phase 2. This new data reveals itself by the finance ministry. Its Phase 2 Starts back on 15 August 2018. Moreover, Jan Dhan Yojana Phase 1 starts back on August 15, 2014. After successful completion of Phase 1 this year, the Finance Ministry decided to relaunch it again. If combine the data of both the phase 1 and phase 2 of PMJDY (till September 5, 2018) a total of 32.61 crore people enroll in this government scheme. After further Analysing this data 53% of the PMJDY account holders are women. However, the rest of it is fetches from Aadhaar.
What is Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and What are its Benefit?
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is a Government of India Initiative financial scheme. Through this scheme, one can easily access financial services like Bank account, Insurance, Pension, Credit, Debit Card etc.
Talking about its benefit, Under PMJDY you can open a basic bank account (in any bank and branch) and get a Rupay debit card with an in-built accidental insurance of 1 lakh. However, earlier this month Finance Ministry extended this accidental insurance coverage to 2 Lakh for those who enroll in PMJDY after August 28, 2018. Moreover, the ministry has also increased the Overdraft limit to Rs 10,000 which was Rs 5000 in past.
As on September 5, 2018, the ministry reveals the total balance in PMJDY is approx Rs 82,490 crore.
How to open a bank account under PMJDY?
You can open a bank account under the PMJDY scheme in any branch of any bank all over India. It only requires you to have an Aadhaar Card or any other valid document.
