BTS is becoming the K-POP sensation among the youth, not only in South Korea but almost in every country. India is also not behind in its craze.
Many of us know this K-pop band but how many of us know their history.
Well, it will be great fun to explore this together.
Also for the people out there who are unaware of them or are new BTS fans just like me and want to discover about them, We will be covering from their origin, their members to their most loved songs.
Who is BTS?
Let’s start with the group itself, BTS known as the Bangtan Boys.
It is a K-POP (Korean-pop) band in South Korea.
The band came in the year 2010.
Beyond the scene and Bangtan Sonyeondan are other names of BTS.
People usually call their Fans “The BTS Army“.
BTS debuted with the Big Hit Entertainment company in South Korea.
BTS, the septet include JIN, SUGA, J-HOPE, RM, JIMIN, V, and JUNGKOOK.
The first song by the group was 2 cool 4skool.
Their first Korean language album was “Park&Wild” whereas their first Japanese language album was “Wakeup and Wings“.
BTS became the first band to receive the RIAA certification.
They have won the Six American Music Awards, nine Billboard Music Awards, and 24 Golden Disk Awards.
They were the nominees of Grammy Awards and Brit Awards.
According to the group, it is their contribution to the encouragement of the youth and for this, we love you BTS.
Why are BTS so popular?
The theme of the songs that BTS cover are on the subjects that makes them totally unique from the other K-POP band is social commentary, bullying, elitism, psychological concepts, and teenage difficulties.
The themes of the songs can be one of the big reasons for their fandom. People easily connect with them.
BTS MEMBERS
JIN
JIN’s real name is Kim Seok Jin.
He was born in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea on 4 December 1992.
He is a singer and a songwriter. His solo tracks are Awake, Epiphany and Moon.
He initially wanted to be an actor. The Big Hit Entertainment company approached him but he rejected the proposal that time.
Jin has also hosted many music programs.
His group members and the BTS army consider him as a perfect face.
He was the nominee of the Melon Music Awards in the year 2017 for THE BEST OST.
In the year 2018, he was the nominee for the Soompi Awards in the category of Best soundtrack.
Jin has its own mukbang channel called ‘EAT JIN’.
His motto in life is ‘Let’s live freely.
SUGA
His real name is Min Yoon Gi.
Suga was born in Taejeon-dong, Buk-gu Daegu South Korea on 9 March 1993.
Suga is a Rapper, Songwriter & Record Producer.
His solo tracks are Agust-D in 2016 and D-2 in 2020.
He chose his stage name Suga because he used to be a shooting guard in basketball during his school days. (shoo from shooting and ga from the guard).
Suga’s first album with his own money is Eminem Album.
He has his Spotify playlist named Suga’s Hip-Hop Replay.
Suga has openly talked about normalizing Mental health issues. He said, this is not something to bottle up, you should openly talk about it. Suga was himself in this condition and we salute his spirit.
Suga has won The Melon Music Awards in the category Hot Trend Awards in the year 2017.
He has also won MNET Asian Music Awards for the Best collaboration in the years 2019 and 2020.
SUGA received Music Melon Awards for song of the year and Gwaon Chart Music Awards for the artist of the year 2020.
In the year 2021, he has also won the Korean Music Awards for Best Pop Song.

J-HOPE
His real name is Jung Ho Seok.
He was born in Ilgok-dong, buk-ku, South Korea on 18 February 1994.
He is a songwriter, rapper, and record producer.
His first solo mixtape is Hope World along with the title track music video ‘Daydream’. It came in the year 2018 which gained popularity and received appreciation in the famous lists.
He chose his stage name J-Hope because he wanted to be the source of hope and light for his fans(Hope of BTS).
J-hope was part of the underground street dance team Neuron earlier.
He was the nominee of the Soompi Awards.
When he was young, he has a passion for tennis.
He dedicated his song ‘Mama’ to his mom after listening to which his mom got emotional. Such a sweet gesture J-Hope.

RM
His real name is Kim Nam Joon.
He was born in Ilsan-gu, Goyang and grew up in Dongjak-gu, South Korea 12 September 1994.
He is a rapper, songwriter, and record producer.
His solo tracks are RM in 2015 and Mono in 2018.
His stage name stands for Rap Monster earlier he chose this name from the song he wrote. People misunderstood the name as ‘Raps like a monster’ but the actual meaning is ‘Rap nonstop’.
He then decided to change his stage name because his earlier name was no longer representative of who he is.
He changed his name and now RM stands for the real me.
During his student days, he used to actively write poetry and get awarded for his writings many times.
He turned poetry into lyrics when he combined poetry with music.
He was nominated for Soompi Awards in the year 2018 for Best Collaboration.
RM won the Soompi Awards in the year 2019 for the Best Male Solo.
He has composed and has written credits of more than 170 songs.

Jimin
His real name is Park Jimin.
He was born in Geumsa-dong, Geumjeong-gu, Busan, South Korea on 13 October 1995.
He is a singer, songwriter, and record producer. His solo tracks include Lie, Filter, and Serendipity.
The other members and the army praise him for his expressive dance style.
He was part of the list of the 100 most handsome faces. He stood at the number 64 on the list.
Jimin studied contemporary dance in school and popping in 8th grade.
He had given choices for his stage name but he chose his real name as his stage name.
His Spotify playlist is named Jimin’s JOAH.
His Fake Love fandom became the most viewed fancam in K-pop.

V
His real name is Kim Taehyung, however, his stage name is “V” which stands for victory.
His nicknames are TaeTae, Blank Tae, and CGV.
He was born in Bisan-dong, Seo-gu, Daegu, South Korea on 30 December 1995.
In the year 2017, Music Melon Awards nominates him for the best OST and Soompi Awards for the best Soundtrack in 2018.
In 2018, he won the Soompi Awards for the Best Idol Actor and Best Acting Ensemble.
V won the Soompi Awards for Best Choreography and APAN Star Awards for the Best OST in the years 2019 and 2020.
He ranked 1st place in the Most Handsome Faces of 2019.
He comes up with the line (Borahae or I purple you). The word ‘Borahae’ is a combination of two Korean words ‘Bora’ means purple and ‘Saraghae’ means I love you. The color purple was chosen as it stands for long-lasting trust and love.
He has been specially recognized by the Korean Music Copyright Association as a songwriter scenery.

Jungkook
His real name is Jeon Jeong-guk.
He was born in Busan, South Korea on 1 September 1997.
His solo tracks are Begin, Euphoria, and Love Yourself.
His nicknames are Kookie and Golden Maknae.
He owns his own studio called ‘Golden Closet’.
Jungkook has won the MTV Millennial Global Instagram Awards in the year 2019.
In 2017 and 2018, he became one of the 100 most handsome faces (ranks at 15) and Handsome men (ranks at 22) respectively.
In 2015, he participated in the ‘One Dream, One Korea’ campaign with other famous Korean singers to represent united Korea.
