It is not just the private institutions but nowadays if a government institution recruit for a job the application fee they take is huge.

Let’s take Railway Recruitment Board as an example. In 2013-14, the examination fee for Railways was merely Rs 40 to Rs 60 which now increases to Rs 500. Taking about the total collection in year 2013-14, Railway board recently share this data with Danik Jagran when they more insist is approximately Rs 9 Crore. Moreover, If you ask about the present collection it is approximately Rs 900 Crore.

However, now Railway says they refund Rs 400 to those unemployed candidate who belong to general community and Rs 250 to other community. For that they must have to take the examination. If they don’t attempt the examination, they will not refund them the fee. However, Railway board doesn’t give any statement about the allocation of examination center that makes individual helpless to take the examination.

Till 2015, Railway board doesn’t take any application fee from SC/ST as well as female candidates. However, from 2018, they even charge an application fee of Rs 250 from them.

RTI Activist Dr. Prakash Aggrawal even ask the board to give information about the vacant post details. However, Railway board tell him to ask these details from 21 RRB centers.
