Last September the Ministry of Labor and Resource Department published a Gazette regarding The Code on Social Security, 2020.
In the same Gazette, the section 142 says every Provident Fund account must be linked with Aadhar by June 1, 2021.
Failing to comply with the same may leads the employee to not able to file their Electronic Challan cum Return (ECR) of their EPF account.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation also has shared a message about the same.
Dear Member, with the coming into force of the section 143 of the Code on Social Security, 2020, the ECR shall be allowed to be filed only for those members, whose Aadhar Numbers are seeded and verified with the UANs, w.e.f 01.06.2021.
Therefore, please link your Aadhaar in the UAN to avail uninterrupted services of the EPFO. Members can validate their Aadhaar with UAN through the online e-KYC facility available on the member portal, as well as in the Umang App, in view of the impending mandatory provisions.
