While the whole world is currently fighting a global epidemic COVID-19 without any effective medicine, the number of people suffering from this disease is increasing in India too. So far, doctors and scientists have not been able to find the cure for this disease, but for now, the only option we have is to find those people who are infected with this disease. The sooner we find these people, the sooner we able to control the spread of this disease. Now, to find the affected people the only option we have is to test more and more people and that became possible only when more and more people know about the testing centres near them.
To ease this process, Google recently has collab with Indian Council of Medical Research and MyGov to bring a new feature in Google Search, Maps and Assistant. This feature helps people to know about the COVID-19 Testing Centres near them.
Find the COVID-19 Testing Centres near you in India online
Take Google Search as an example, Suppose you want to know about the COVID-19 testing Centres near you, then all you have to do is type some of the pre-defined queries (like COVID-19 Testing, Coronavirus Testing, Corona Testing and so on) on Google Search and it brings you a newly introduced snippet like as show you in the screenshot below. The same way you can spot COVID-19 testing centres near you on Google Maps and Google Assistant too.
Other relevant info you find in the Snippet
Now, beside just showing you the list of COVID-19 testing centres near you, the snippet also has some relevant information that I have listed below.
- Whether the testing centre is government or private run.
- Carrying a doctor’s prescription before visiting the testing centre.
- Calling the national or state helplines before visiting the testing centre.
- The tests are also limited to certain patients.

To make this facility available among users, so far, Google has integrated over 700 COVID-19 testing centres on Google Search, Assistant and Maps. These COVID-19 testing centres, on the other hand, are from 300 Indian Cities. Also, this new experience is available among users in eight Indian language beside English. These eight Indian languages are Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, and Gujarati. Google has said that they are working closely with ICMR to integrate more testing centres and they will soon be available among the users.
